Which side has most valuable squad?

Man City will hope for better fortunes in the Champions League this season, especially given the fact they obtain the most valuable squad in the competition.

Pep Guardiola’s side smashed several records on their way to lifting the EPL title last season.

As well as becoming the first side ever to reach 100 points, City scored the most goals (106) and recorded the most wins (32) in the division’s history.

But they were eliminated in the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

Up against fellow EPL side Liverpool, City were handed a 5-1 aggregate thrashing by Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Guardiola will hope to see a vast improvement in the competition this term.

City’s owners will, too, as the club obtain the most valuable Champions League squad of 2018/19.

Their 25-man squad cost them a whopping 786m pounds to assemble.

That’s 200 times as much as the least expensive side, Viktoria Plzen.

And it is City’s neighbours, Man United, who have the second most expensive set of players - which cost the Red Devils 655m pounds to put together.

Unsurprisingly it is PSG who follow United on 619m pounds, who come before Barcelona on 538m pounds.

Liverpool - last season’s beaten finalists - are at fifth with a total squad cost of 513m pounds.

Real Madrid are renowned for paying big money to bring in ‘Galacticos’, yet the reigning champions are down at seventh in the list after registering a squad cost of 410m pounds this season.
