West Ham sign defender for club-record fee

EPL outfit West Ham have confirmed the signing of defender Issa Diop from Toulouse.

Diop, a 21-year-old central defender, had been on the books of Toulouse since 2005, with the youngster having broken into the club’s first-team in 2015 as a raw teen.

And Diop, who has appeared for France at every level from U16 to U21, has since developed into one of the most highly-regarded young stoppers in world football, with the powerful starlet, despite his tender years, having already appeared 85 times in Ligue 1 for Toulouse.

This included playing the full 90 minutes in 34 of Les Violets’ 38 league outings this past season, with Diop’s performances in a struggling side over the last 10 months having caught the attention of a number of Europe’s biggest clubs.
