Unai Emery does something no Arsenal manager has done for 32 years

Unai Emery claimed an unwanted feat in his first game in charge of Arsenal on Sunday, as the Spaniard became the first manager in 32 years to lose his first league game at Gunners boss.
The Spaniard oversaw his side lose 2-0 to reigning champions Man City in a match where the Gunners never really looked liked beating Guardiola’s side.
Arsenal fans will surely have high hopes this season following the departure of Arsene Wenger last season and the arrival of Emery this summer.
However after this result, fans of the north London side will be brought back down to earth with aplomb.
Man City absolutely tore Arsenal apart for the majority of the game, and it was amazing to see the reigning champions only score two in a match that showed they’re still capable of producing quality displays against some of the Premier League’s best sides.
Of course, it’d be harsh to judge Emery after just one game in charge at the Emirates.
However, Sunday’s results certainly would’ve been a bit of a reality check for those Gunners fans who were expecting big things from their club this year. Only time will tell how well the former PSG boss does in north London, however after today’s display, don’t expect Emery to be recreating Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ season just yet.
