Forbes has released its 2018 list of the
world's 100 highest-paid athletes, with boxer Floyd Mayweather topping it.
The list, compiled by the American business
magazine, features the likes of Anthony Joshua, Conor McGregor and Lewis
Hamilton - and includes nine football players.
Here are the best-paid football players in the
world and the lucrative amount they earned, according to the list.
**Messi
Argentine Messi, who plays for Barcelona, is
ranked second overall in the list.
According to the list, the 30-year-old raked
in $111m - from $84m in winnings/salary and $27m from endorsements.
**Cristiano
Ronaldo
Ranked third in the overall list, Portugal
international Ronaldo took home $108m - made from $61m in winnings/salary and
$47m in endorsements.
**Neymar
The Brazilian superstar, who is signed to
French club Paris Saint-Germain, is listed fifth in the Forbes list.
He is listed as having earned $90m - coming
from $73m in winnings/salary and $17m from endorsements.
**Gareth
Bale
Wales'
very own Gareth Bale, who scored two goals in Real Madrid's Champions
League final victory over Liverpool last month, is listed at
35th in the list.
According to Forbes, Bale took home $34.6m (around £25.8m) - from
$28.6m winnings and $6m in endorsements.
**Paul Pogba
French star Pogba is listed as 52nd with
$29.5m - made from $25m of winnings/salary and $4.5m from endorsement deals.
**Oscar
Ranked just a few places after Pogba, Oscar comes in at 56th with $27.4m - earned from $25.9m of winnings/salary and $1.5m of endorsements.
