Russian defender Ilya Kutepov threatens to copy Sergio Ramos challenge on Mohamed Salah at World Cup

Russia World Cup 2018 countdown—3 DAYS

Russia defender Ilya Kutepov has warned Mohamed Salah that Russia will try to stop him by any means necessary – even if it means repeating Sergio Ramos’ controversial arm grapple.

Salah was forced off after half an hour of the Champions League final at the end of last month following a rough challenge from the Real Madrid skipper that injured his shoulder. Since then, Egypt’s talisman has been fighting to get fit in time for his nation’s World Cup opener against Uruguay on Saturday – though he is confident he will be okay.

A few days later, hosts Russia await Egypt in St Petersburg, and Salah can expect more rough treatment. ‘Salah’s game doesn’t worry me,’ said Kutepov. ‘How do you stop him? Well, you can do what Sergio Ramos did for example.

‘He showed us one way of stopping him and I can’t say that I was upset when I watched him get injured in the final. ‘I wish him a quick recovery and I’ll be happy if he plays at the World Cup because it helps you improve when you play against such a genius.’
