Man United complete the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred

The Red Devils have begun their summer business by completing their first signing ahead of the World Cup. Fred, who will be in Russia soon, will turn up for Man United next season.

Jose Mourinho needed to add a midfielder to his ranks this summer after Carrick’s retirement.

Throughout the season, the United boss was looking at possible prospects to replace the English veteran. Manchester United narrowed down their search to Fred and Milinkovic in recent weeks.

The latter proved to be really costly as Lazio set a 100m euros on asking price, according to reports.

The Devils decided to focus on Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred and seal the deal before he leaves Russia this weekend.

Manchester United announced that they have secured the services of the Brazilian midfielder for a reported fee of 60m euros.

The 25-year old midfielder has risen to fame over the past seasons. Born in Belo Horizonte, Fred started his professional career with Internacional. He made 55 appearances for the Brazilian side, scoring 8 goals in all competitions.

In June 2013, he made the leap to Europe by joining Shakhtar Donetsk for 15m euros. Since then, Fred has gone from strength to strength, improving every season. The midfielders scored 14 goals in 156 appearances for the Miners.
