Man United and Liverpool interested in 50m pounds rated Madrid maestro

Croatian playmaker Mateo Kovacic has reportedly requested to leave the Bernabeu, with an array of top quality sides said to be interested in securing his signature.

The clubs rumoured to be circling around the unsettled Kovacic include Man United, Liverpool, Juventus, and Bayern Munich, all possessing the financial might to meet Real Madrid’s 50m pounds valuation of the player.

The 24-year-old Croatian has become dissatisfied with his lack of playing time in Madrid and has come to the decision his future lies outside La Liga. The midfielder boosted his stock after a successful World Cup in Russia, making five appearances and receiving a runners-up medal.

Liverpool have splashed the cash this window, with Klopp contradicting his own comments made in 2016 bemoaning the recruitment policies of certain EPL clubs. If they want to add Kovacic to their star-studded summer signings they will have to spend big again to fend off interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Man United are also keen on the player, as Mourinho aims to mount another league title challenge. The Red Devils have recently signed former Shakhtar star Fred, and the signing of Kovacic would certainly rejuvenate United’s midfield.
