France international Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool is back on after talks with Lyon resumed.
The 53m pounds deal had progressed so far the 24-year-old had even completed a welcome interview for LFC TV, the club’s television station, before he went to Russia for the World Cup.
But concerns at Anfield over Fekir’s previous medical issues halted the transfer, with the playmaker suffering from recurring knee injuries including a contusion which kept him out for a month in February.
The Reds’ medical team were not happy with the condition of his knee after a 2015 operation, with boss Jurgen Klopp left frustrated by the collapse of talks.
Since then Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed Fekir could be on his way to Man United, even threatening a price rise amid France’s World Cup success, but it seems there has been another change of heart.
Now Liverpool are re-negotiating a contract with clauses concerning his knee, reducing the fee for the Lyon captain should any problems arise.
The signing would complete Liverpool’s rejuvenated midfield, which has been boosted by the signings of Naby Keita and Fabinho.
