Liverpool await Real Madrid approach for Jurgen Klopp

Real Madrid will bid to lure Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool this summer, reports say.

Liverpool are still licking their wounds from the embarrassing Champions League final defeat to Real and are awaiting a second blow from the La Liga giants. Zinedine Zidane stunned the football world on Thursday when he announced he was stepping down as Real manager.

The Frenchman called time on his short-lived tenure as Real boss after two-and-a-half years of remarkable success at the Bernabeu. Zidane lifted three Champions League trophies in his time as Real boss and the Spanish club are now targeting Klopp as his replacement, according to the Sun.

President Florentino Perez sees Klopp as the perfect man to succeed Zidane due to his strong character and man management skills.

Real hope Klopp will be unable to resist taking charge of the club, despite having made a long-term commitment to Liverpool last summer. Mauricio Pochettino is also in the running for the position, but Klopp is now the leading candidate in the eyes of the Real chiefs. Liverpool are bracing themselves for an approach, and will do whatever it takes to keep hold of the German.
