Russia World Cup 2018 countdown—7 DAYS
According to French outlet L’Equipe, Arsenal have secured the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Sokratis, an experienced 79-time capped Greek international, had been on the books of Dortmund since arriving at the club from fellow Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen in 2013.
Over the course of his 5-year stint at the Westfalenstadion, the no-nonsense stopper managed to establish himself an absolutely crucial figure, with the departure of Mats Hummels from the club in the summer of 2016 having since seen Sokratis step into a leader’s role on the pitch for BVB.
The 29-year-old racked up 43 appearances across all competitions this past season, notching 3 goals in the process, but looked some way short of his best over the last 6 months or so.
