Galatasaray set sights on Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck

As per a report from Turkish newspaper AMK, Super Lig giants Galatasaray are eyeing a move for out of favour Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck.

27-year-old English international Welbeck has been on the books of Arsenal since 2014, when he made the move to North London from EPL rivals Man United.

However, Welbeck’s time at the Emirates has since proven altogether underwhelming, with a number of lengthy spells on the sidelines, combined with heavy competition for places, having seen the Red Devils’ youth product manage just 45 EPL starts total in 4 years in the English capital.

As such, unsurprisingly, Welbeck has been inevitably linked with a Gunners exit this summer, with the likes of Everton and Southampton having been touted as potential destinations.

And, despite more recent claims that new Gunners’ boss  Unai Emery does not intend to part with Welbeck before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.

AMK claim that Gala are preparing to sell former Swansea hitman Bafetimbi Gomis to either Saudi Arabia or Qatar imminently, with Welbeck viewed as the ideal replacement.
