Final standings for 2018/19 predicted by spread betting firm

Sporting Index is the word’s largest sports spread betting business and their expert traders have come up with how they think the standings will look come May.

The headline news is that Man United are now expected to miss out on the top four - with Tottenham and Chelsea tipped to finish ahead of them.

The Red Devils lost 3-2 to Brighton last weekend, and face a tough game against Spurs on Monday night.

While they finished last season in 2nd place, failure to strengthen significantly in the transfer market has left them looking vulnerable - especially to much-improved pair Liverpool and Chelsea.

Sporting Index spokesman Ed Fulton said: “Things can change very quickly in football – only 2 weeks ago, we thought Man United were going to end up in third spot, but after an unhappy start to the season, we now think they’re going to miss out on the top four completely.

“Disaster never looks too far away with Jose Mourinho, and with rumours of fallings out with players and the club, and after a poor result at Brighton, we predict United will finish fifth at the end of the season.

“Whether Mourinho is there until the end, remains to be seen.”

The firm think Manr City will successfully defend their title - but with 10 points fewer than last season, while Liverpool are being backed to climb from fourth to second.

Chelsea are up in third in the predicted table, as they look to bounce back from last season’s disappointing fifth-place finish under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Meanwhile, Spurs are being backed to hold on to a Champions League place, 4 points above United.

Unai Emery’s Arsenal are expected to finish in sixth - the same position they ended last season under Arsene Wenger.

One of the most interesting predictions on the table is that of Wolves, with the top-flight new boys being backed to make it into 9th place.
