Burnley complete 15m pounds signing of Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson

Burnley have signed centre-back Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough for 15m pounds.

25-year-old Gibson has signed a 4-year deal at Turf Moor for a joint club record fee and will compete with established pairing Ben Mee and James Tarkowski for a place in the back four.

The defender has played one season in the EPL (2016/17) and was called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate in March 2017.

Boro were relegated, but Gibson established himself as an ever-present in the side.

He then missed only one game last season, as Boro reached the Championship play-off semi-finals.

He will now potentially play in Europe with the Clarets, who are currently undergoing Europa League qualification.
