Brazil suffer blow with Douglas Costa and Danilo ruled out of Serbia clash

Brazil will be without Douglas Costa and Danilo for their final World Cup group game against Serbia on Wednesday.

The Brazil squad spent Saturday reflecting on their late victory over Costa Rica, where Philippe Coutinho and Neymar struck twice in stoppage time to secure their first win of the tournament.

However, the club's doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has stated that both Costa, who appeared as a substitute in the victory on Friday, and Danilo will be absent from their showdown for a place in the knock-out stages with the Serbs.

Lasmar stated that Costa has a right thigh injury and Danilo is still nursing a right hip problem that saw him miss their recent win.

Neither will travel with the rest of the squad for the match in Moscow and will instead remain at the team's base in Sochi for treatment.

Costa's injury is believed to be a bit more serious, although he did not mention a timetable for his recovery.
