Balotelli set to complete move from Nice to rivals Marseille

Italy striker Mario Balotelli is set to complete his transfer from Nice to rivals Marseille in the coming days.

The former Manchester City star, joined by a lawyer and not agent Mino Raiola, held further talks with the Ligue 1 giants this weekend.

Balotelli has already angered Nice by failing to attend pre-season training with his current club, despite being out of contract.

Now, though, RMC in France say he is expected to conclude a switch which could make him Marseille’s highest paid player ever, with wages worth around 17.5K pounds a week.

Nice believe they are owed around 8.8m pound for Balotelli, despite his contract expiring, due to a gentleman’s agreement, and are likely to chase him for the cash.

The Liverpool flop has rebuilt his career in the south of France, scoring a career-best 22 goals in 30 matches last season, and hitting 15 in his first campaign with Nice.
