Arsenal set to sign Sampdoria and Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira

Arsenal have completed the signing of Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, according to reports.

The Gunners have been linked with a summer swoop for the 22-year-old, and it was reported earlier this week that the north Londoners had seen an offer worth around 26m pounds accepted by Sampdoria.

And now, according to Di Marzio reporter Fabrizio Romano, the deal taking Torreira to the Emirates is ‘done’.

It had earlier been suggested that talks would be on hold until after the World Cup, with Torreira representing Uruguay, but it seems the deal has been rushed through to get the young midfielder signed before La Celeste get their campaign underway against Egypt on Friday.

Arsenal have already confirmed the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner, the full-back, from Juventus on a free transfer, while deals are expected to be completed for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis and Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the coming weeks.
