WORLD CUP COUNTDOWN—22 DAYS

The wife of an injured Argentina star has dropped a huge bombshell, claiming that he is fit for the World Cup and that the FA lied because ‘many people want him out.’

Argentina keeper Sergio Romero has been ruled out of the World Cup following a knee injury, but according to his wife, he’ll be fit for the tournament.

Eliana Guercio says Romero’s knee injury is not serious and that the South American nation’s football association lied about his condition adding that ‘there are many people that want him out.’

Guercio said:”There’s nothing broken, it’s a piece of loose cartilage. The doctors told him he was OK for the World Cup. The recovery is 2 to 3 weeks maximum. But with how my husband is and the effort he puts in he could be ready for the first game.”

“There are many people that want him out. They said it was broken to justify it. I’m tired if the lies.”

Man United player Romero was thought to be first choice for Argentina in Russia having been selected alongside Willy Caballero and Franco Armani.
